SPRING MENU

Chef Pedro Cardoso has divided the menu into two parts – the first more contemporary but still with a Portuguese slant, the second part of the menu is based on more traditional Douro/Portuguese cuisine.

STARTERS - CONTEMPORARY

Oxtail ravioli, made by Chef Pedro, with a ewe’s milk cheese sauce and shitake mushrooms

Sautéed squid, stuffed with a black beans purée and served a touch of squid ink

Slow cooked quail stuffed with duck liver, served on a bed of creamy “polenta”

 

STARTERS - TRADITIONAL

Onion soup with traditional sausage – “Moira de Lamego”

Tiny crispy sardines with tomato aioli

 

MAIN COURSES - CONTEMPORARY

Croaker fish sautéed with ‘chourizo’ served with textured green peas

Locally reared beef, celery purée served with roasted vegetables and chips

Confit of chicken, with asparagus, mushrooms and roast potatoes

 

MAIN COURSES - TRADITIONAL

 

Traditional kid (baby goat) with roasted potatoes and sprouting broccoli

Cod cooked with ‘broa’ from Covas do Douro (local maize bread), with mashed potato and olives 

Slow cooked octopus with new potatoes baked in the oven & extra virgin olive oil from the Quinta

 

VEGETARIAN OPTIONS

Spinach raviolis stuffed with ricotta cheese

Creamy polenta, sautéed vegetables & mushrooms

Penne with tomato sauce and seasonal roast vegetables

 

SIDE DISHES

Sautéed sprouting broccoli

Creamy polenta

Sautéed aspargus

CLAIRE'S TABLE

Every evening at 19:30 pm guests can sit around “Claire’s dining table” and join other guests for a three course dinner party.  Chef Pedro Cardoso will produce a three course meal based on local Portuguese gastronomy whilst using the freshest produce.  Places are limited and need to be reserved.

Three glasses of wine are included in the menu. We also offer a Reserve wine option.  Water, coffee & tea included.

DESSERTS

Many portuguese desserts are very sweet and quite heavy, but Chef Pedro’s are the opposite – worth a try! Don´t forget a glass of Porto!
